Haslett-Okemos Kiwanis packs backpacks full of school essentials in partnership with Meridian Cares. The backpacks are assembled with the teacher’s recommended school supplies by the H-O-K members, and are distributed to families who qualify for free lunches and will be distributed prior to school starting. Haslett Robotic Club ($6000 annual donation) The Haslett Robotics Club serves Haslett, Okemos and East Lansing students with a robotics opportunity to build competitive robots (shown here). Haslett-Okemos Kiwanis supported the Youth Sports Pavilion at the Marketplace on the Green ($75,000). This facility offers a synthetic outdoor ice rink that is available regardless of the winter weather! The pavilion is covered, keeping the surface clear of snow and offers fun family entertainment. Each March, kids in the third grade at Haslett and high school students at Okemos High receive dictionaries. These dictionaries provide students with an opportunity to build vocabulary in their writing assignments (and they help with Scrabble and spelling contests too!) Read more

Lake Lansing Bandshell Concert Sponsors Haslett-Okemos Kiwanis sponsors the popular Lake Lansing Bandshell concerts which serve the entire region with live music from the bandshell at Lake Lansing Park South. Situated on the grassy lawn lakeside in Haslett, the bandshell features summer weekend concerts by a variety of local, regional bands and performers. Read more
