Lynn, Vic, Don Frank along with Courtney Trebesh (President of the Okemos Key Club). Made our annual trip to Lansings McClaren OB department with our donated gifts for New Borns and comfort items to aide Mothers during Labor. These included 2 Baby Swings, 4 Car Seats and many natural soothing things like Aromatherapy diffusers, exercise balls, and massage rollers. Everything was greatly appreciated by the staff.
This project was started in 2021 after the then Michigan District Governor Fran Babbage challenged clubs to create a new service project to help young children ages 0-5 years.
In October of 2021 our Club was featured in a Lansing State Journal article for donating 12 brand-new portable cribs and sleep sacks to McLaren Greater Lansing during Safe Sleep Month. Article Link: https://bit.ly/KiwanisSafeSleep.
We have been working on this project with McLaren ever since. The contents of the donation has changed over the years depending on McLaren’s needs. For instance in 2024 we donated 12 car seats. However the intent has always stayed the same, to work with our community partners to support the children in our community, because children really are our future.
