Sleep in Heavenly Peace Bunk Bed Build Day
May 21, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The Lansing area clubs in Divisions 16 and 18 are partnering with Ingham County Parks to host a build day on Saturday, May 21, 2022. The project is also open to all clubs and individuals who are interested in participating or sponsoring the beds or bedding. No experience or tools are required…just show up on build day at 9:00am! Each bed costs $250 and is built from scratch with no kits. There will be 20-40 beds built, which will be delivered to Lansing area families.
Beds will benefit Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a non-profit organization that ensures “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town.” SHP started in a garage as the founder wanted to give a neighbor child a bed for Christmas. With the leftover wood, a post was made on Facebook and it sparked an overwhelming need for beds. SHP was formed!
Volunteer opportunities are quickly filling up. If you would like to be involved, below are the links to sign up and/or donate:
- VOLUNTEER SIGN UP for May 21
- There are still opportunities to sponsor a bed ($250 for each bed that includes the frame, mattress, pillow, sheets, delivery & set up). The deadlines to insure that Sleep in Heavenly Peace receives the money in time to purchase the supplies are: ONLINE DONATION/PAYMENT by May 7.
- MAIL A CHECK by April 30, 2022 to Sleep in Heavenly Peace, P O Box 390780, Omaha, NE 68139. In the check memo field, write MI-Lansing Chapter for April 2022 build. If you want a receipt, include name, address, phone number, & email. Donations are also accepted for pillows ($5), sheet set ($10), comforter ($25) and mattress ($100).
The build will take place at Lake Lansing Park South. Be sure to mention the build when you arrive as Ingham County Parks has generously waived the parking fee for volunteers. For more information see southlansingkiwanis.org.
A big THANK YOU to everyone who has sponsored a bed and/or volunteered to work at the event.
